Attorney Len Heath Attended House of Delegates Meeting for ABA

We at Heath, Old & Verser, PLCare proud to announce that Attorney Len Heath attended the House of Delegates meeting of the American Bar Association on February 5, 2018. The American Bar Association, also known as the ABA, is a national bar association which plays a significant role in the legal realm, including setting academic standards for law schools, proposing changes to both state and federal laws, and formulating ethical codes related to the legal profession.

As an example of the matters addressed, the House of Delegates passed a resolution urging state legislatures to create procedures for individuals challenging their criminal convictions by demonstrating that forensic evidence used to obtain their convictions has thereafter been undermined or discredited. The convention also endorsed a resolution calling for the development of a systematic approach within court systems to address the special needs of homeless youth.

Attorney Heath also participated in the Southern Conference of Bar Presidents and the National Conference of Bar Presidents. These organizations are designed to provide state bar leaders a platform to share ideas which better serve both their bar organizations and the general public. Attorney Heath attended as the President-elect of the Virginia State Bar, which is the state regulatory agency in Virginia that regulates Virginia attorneys.
